Research
Maureen MacDonald is a Professor in the Department of Kinesiology and Dean of the Faculty of Science. Her research interest lies in exercise physiology, cardiovascular physiology, blood flow regulation, arterial compliance, spinal cord injury, aging, hypertension, and adaptations to exercise training. As director of the Vascular Dynamics Laboratory, she conducts research in the area of exercise physiology with specialization in the application of ultrasound techniques to the assessment of the peripheral blood vessels. She has supervised over 100 undergraduate and graduate students and was awarded the Canadian Society for Exercise Physiology Mentorship award in 2018. Dr. MacDonald has been continually funded by NSERC since 2001, and currently is also funded by CIHR and the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada.
